Ingredients
French Toast
- 4 slices bread (preferably thick like brioche)
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup strawberries, sliced
Cream Filling
- ½ cup cream cheese
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the egg mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar until fully combined and smooth. This mixture will be used to soak the bread slices for the French toast.
- Make the cream filling: In a separate bowl, blend the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. This sweetened cream cheese mixture will add richness between the bread slices.
- Assemble sandwiches: Spread a generous amount of the cream filling evenly on two slices of bread. Top with the remaining two slices to form sandwiches, pressing gently to hold them together.
- Dip in egg mixture: Carefully dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are fully coated but not saturated to the point of falling apart.
- Cook the French toast: Heat butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the dipped sandwiches in the pan and cook until golden brown and crisp on one side, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until equally golden and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the pan and slice if desired. Top the French toast with the sliced fresh strawberries and, optionally, additional cream filling, syrup, or honey. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use thick bread like brioche for the best texture and to hold the creamy filling better.
- For extra sweetness, drizzle with maple syrup or honey before serving.
- Fresh strawberries add a bright contrast; you may substitute with any fresh berries.
- Ensure the pan is well-heated and butter melted before adding sandwiches for even cooking.
