Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 400 g ground beef or chicken
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Sauce:
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into small, even-sized meatballs to ensure consistent cooking.
- Cook Meatballs: You can either bake the meatballs at 200°C (400°F) for 15–20 minutes until cooked through and browned, or cook them in a pan on the stovetop over medium heat until fully cooked and browned on all sides.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a separate pan, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to blend the flavors.
- Coat Meatballs: Add the cooked meatballs to the simmering sauce and toss them gently to coat evenly with the sticky hoisin glaze.
- Serve: Serve the meatballs hot, either as an appetizer or with steamed rice as a main dish. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added flavor and presentation.
