Ingredients
Pasta
- 400g spaghetti
Sauce
- 300g ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Cook Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until they become soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the pan and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes.
- Add Tomato Elements: Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes to deepen the flavor. Then, add the crushed tomatoes and beef broth to the pan, stirring to combine.
- Season Sauce: Mix in dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Serve: Spoon the hearty Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Optionally, garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
Notes
- Simmer the sauce longer for a richer, deeper flavor.
- Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese or fresh basil for added flavor.
- Use lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Reserve some pasta cooking water to adjust sauce consistency if needed.
