Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup milk
Fruit and Flavorings
- ½ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup
Optional
- ¼ cup yogurt (optional)
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients: In a jar, mix together ½ cup rolled oats and 1 tablespoon chia seeds to form the base of your overnight oats.
- Add liquids and flavorings: Pour in 1 cup of milk, then add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon lemon zest, and 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup to sweeten and brighten the mixture.
- Incorporate fruit: Stir in ½ cup blueberries, either fresh or frozen, to add natural sweetness and antioxidants to the oats.
- Refrigerate overnight: Mix everything well and seal the jar. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the oats and chia seeds to soak and soften.
- Serve with optional yogurt: Before serving, stir the oats well. Add ¼ cup of yogurt if desired for extra creaminess and tanginess.
Notes
- Frozen blueberries work great and release extra flavor during soaking.
- Adding a dash of vanilla extract can enhance the overall depth of flavor.
- Adjust the amount of lemon juice and zest to control the tartness according to your preference.
