Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with gooey brown sugar filling and creamy vanilla glaze — bakery-style results made simple and perfect for breakfast or dessert.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 rolls

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 ¼ tsp yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 3 cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt

Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the yeast, warm milk, and sugar. Let it rest for 5 minutes until frothy to activate the yeast.
  2. Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the egg, melted butter, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix everything well and knead the dough for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Prepare Filling and Roll Dough: Roll the risen dough into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top. Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  5. Cut Rolls and Second Rise: Slice the log into 12 equal rolls and place them in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  6. Bake Rolls: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Prepare Glaze and Serve: While rolls are warm, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Add cream cheese to the glaze for a richer flavor.
  • You can make the rolls the night before and bake fresh in the morning for convenience.
