Ingredients
Protein & Vegetables
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Beans & Tomatoes
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
Liquids & Oils
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups chicken broth
Spices & Seasonings
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the turkey: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Sauté onions and garlic: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until the onion has softened and become translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add spices: Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute to allow the spices to release their aroma.
- Add beans, tomatoes, and broth: Pour in the drained kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, and chicken broth. Stir to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Simmer the chili: Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer gently for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and blend flavors.
- Season and serve: Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve hot and garnish with optional toppings like cheese, sour cream, or avocado.
Notes
- Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or sliced avocado for added richness.
- Adjust spice level by adding cayenne pepper or hot sauce if desired.
- Chili flavors intensify if allowed to rest overnight, making it perfect for meal prep.
