Ingredients
Cheese
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes
Coating
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Freeze the Mozzarella Cubes: Place the mozzarella cheese cubes in the freezer for 20–30 minutes to firm them up, which helps prevent leakage during cooking.
- Prepare the Coating Mixture: In a bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning thoroughly.
- Coat the Cheese Cubes: Dip each frozen mozzarella cube into the beaten eggs, then roll and coat it evenly in the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crispiness, repeat this dipping and coating process to create a double layer.
- Freeze the Coated Bites: Arrange the coated cheese bites on a baking sheet and freeze again for 10 minutes to help the coating set firmly.
- Preheat Cooking Appliance: If baking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). If using an air fryer, preheat it to 375°F (190°C).
- Apply Cooking Spray: Lightly spray the bites with cooking spray to aid in browning and crispiness.
- Cook the Bites: Bake in the oven for 8–10 minutes or air fry for 6–8 minutes until they turn golden and crispy on the outside.
- Serve: Remove the bites immediately from heat and enjoy with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Freezing the mozzarella cubes before and after coating prevents the cheese from leaking out while cooking.
- Double-coating the bites creates a crispier crust for better texture.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the gooey melted cheese inside along with the crisp outer crust.
