Ingredients
Toast Base
- 2 slices bread
Yogurt Filling
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
Toppings
- ¼ cup berries or sliced fruit
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Press the center of each bread slice gently with your fingers or a spoon to create a shallow well without tearing the bread. This will hold the yogurt mixture while baking or air frying.
- Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, egg, and honey (or maple syrup) thoroughly until smooth and well blended. This mixture will create a creamy custard-like texture when cooked.
- Fill the Bread: Spoon the yogurt and egg mixture into the prepared wells in each slice of bread, filling them evenly and making sure the mixture doesn’t overflow.
- Add Toppings: Place the berries or sliced fruit on top of the yogurt filling in each bread slice, distributing them evenly to add natural sweetness and freshness.
- Cook: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) or your air fryer to 350°F. Bake the assembled toasts in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, until the filling is set and slightly golden on top.
- Serve: Remove the yogurt toasts carefully after cooking and serve warm as a delightful breakfast or snack option.
Notes
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or a drop of vanilla extract to the yogurt mixture for an enhanced flavor profile.
- Use whole grain or sourdough bread for added nutrition and texture.
- Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of honey or maple syrup according to taste.
- Try different fruits such as kiwi, peaches, or mangoes as seasonal variations.
