Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup orange juice
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp citrus zest (orange or lemon)
Instructions
- Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt to ensure they are evenly combined and aerated.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the orange juice, lemon juice, melted butter, eggs, and citrus zest thoroughly until well blended and smooth.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined without overmixing to maintain a tender crumb.
- Prepare Baking Pan: Grease a standard loaf pan lightly with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Pour and Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan and place it in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C). Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool completely in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully before slicing.
Notes
- Drizzle with a simple citrus glaze made from powdered sugar and lemon or orange juice for an extra burst of flavor.
- This bread keeps well for up to three days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
- You can substitute the butter with coconut oil for a slightly different flavor and texture.
