These spicy honey garlic chicken thighs are juicy, sticky, and packed with bold flavor. Sweet honey balances the heat from chili flakes and savory garlic, creating a perfectly caramelized glaze that makes this dish irresistible for weeknight dinners or entertaining.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4–6 servings

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 6 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 12 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp sriracha or hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the chicken thighs.
  2. Season Chicken: Season the chicken thighs on both sides with salt and black pepper according to your taste preference.
  3. Sear Chicken: Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for 4–5 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 2 minutes on the other side.
  4. Make Sauce: While the chicken sears, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, vinegar, red pepper flakes, sriracha (if using), and grated ginger (if using) in a bowl to create the honey garlic sauce.
  5. Add Sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce into the skillet around the chicken thighs, ensuring the chicken is surrounded by the sauce.
  6. Bake Chicken: Transfer the oven-safe skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes. The chicken should be cooked through, and the sauce should thicken to a sticky glaze.
  7. Serve: Spoon the thickened glaze over the chicken thighs before serving to enhance flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Bone-in thighs provide the best flavor and juiciness.
  • The sauce thickens as it cools, becoming more sticky and flavorful.
  • Serve with rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • This recipe can also be adapted for grilling or air-frying if preferred.
