Ingredients
Chicken
- 6 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Honey Garlic Sauce
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1–2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp sriracha or hot sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the chicken thighs.
- Season Chicken: Season the chicken thighs on both sides with salt and black pepper according to your taste preference.
- Sear Chicken: Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for 4–5 minutes until the skin is golden and crispy. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 2 minutes on the other side.
- Make Sauce: While the chicken sears, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, vinegar, red pepper flakes, sriracha (if using), and grated ginger (if using) in a bowl to create the honey garlic sauce.
- Add Sauce: Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce into the skillet around the chicken thighs, ensuring the chicken is surrounded by the sauce.
- Bake Chicken: Transfer the oven-safe skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes. The chicken should be cooked through, and the sauce should thicken to a sticky glaze.
- Serve: Spoon the thickened glaze over the chicken thighs before serving to enhance flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Bone-in thighs provide the best flavor and juiciness.
- The sauce thickens as it cools, becoming more sticky and flavorful.
- Serve with rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- This recipe can also be adapted for grilling or air-frying if preferred.
