Ingredients
Lasagna
- 9 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 2 cups chopped smoked brisket
- 2 cups marinara or BBQ sauce blend
Cheese Mixture
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Toppings
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna layers evenly.
- Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until smooth and thoroughly blended to create a flavorful creamy layer.
- Assemble Lasagna Layers: Spread a thin layer of the marinara or BBQ sauce blend on the bottom of a baking dish. Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce. Then layer with chopped smoked brisket followed by dollops of the ricotta mixture and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process—sauce, noodles, brisket, ricotta mixture, and cheeses—until ingredients are used up, finishing with a generous topping of the shredded cheeses on the final layer.
- Bake: Place the assembled lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Rest: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the layers to set, making it easier to slice and serve.
Notes
- Use leftover smoked brisket for the best texture and enhanced smoky flavor in the dish.
- For added flavor, consider including caramelized onions or roasted peppers in the layers.
- The assembled but unbaked lasagna can be frozen for convenient meal prep; simply bake directly from frozen, adding extra cooking time as needed.
