A bold, smoky twist on classic lasagna featuring tender smoked brisket layered with creamy ricotta, melty mozzarella, sharp cheddar, and a rich barbecue-infused marinara sauce, baked to bubbly perfection.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Lasagna

  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked
  • 2 cups chopped smoked brisket
  • 2 cups marinara or BBQ sauce blend

Cheese Mixture

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Toppings

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the lasagna layers evenly.
  2. Prepare Ricotta Mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until smooth and thoroughly blended to create a flavorful creamy layer.
  3. Assemble Lasagna Layers: Spread a thin layer of the marinara or BBQ sauce blend on the bottom of a baking dish. Add a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce. Then layer with chopped smoked brisket followed by dollops of the ricotta mixture and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses.
  4. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process—sauce, noodles, brisket, ricotta mixture, and cheeses—until ingredients are used up, finishing with a generous topping of the shredded cheeses on the final layer.
  5. Bake: Place the assembled lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  6. Rest: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the layers to set, making it easier to slice and serve.

Notes

  • Use leftover smoked brisket for the best texture and enhanced smoky flavor in the dish.
  • For added flavor, consider including caramelized onions or roasted peppers in the layers.
  • The assembled but unbaked lasagna can be frozen for convenient meal prep; simply bake directly from frozen, adding extra cooking time as needed.
