Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, parmesan, or mozzarella)
- 1 tbsp mixed dried herbs
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup melted butter
Instructions
- Prepare the dry mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, shredded cheese, and dried herbs. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of ingredients.
- Add the wet ingredients: Stir in the milk, beaten egg, and melted butter into the dry mixture. Mix just until all ingredients are combined to avoid overworking the batter.
- Prepare the pan: Grease a loaf pan lightly with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Bake the bread: Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan, smoothing the top as needed. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and slice: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing for best texture and flavor.
Notes
- You can use cheddar, parmesan, or mozzarella cheese depending on your flavor preference.
- For a fresher herb taste, substitute dried herbs with 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh herbs.
- This bread pairs wonderfully with soups and salads or can be enjoyed on its own as a snack.
- Store leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
