A brilliant mash‑up of two comfort classics—crispy buttered bread layered with marinara, ooey‑gooey mozzarella, and savory pepperoni—for an indulgent, quick sandwich.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 sandwiches

Ingredients

4 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough, Italian, or your favorite)

½ cup marinara or pizza sauce (thin is ok, but use sparingly)

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

12–16 slices pepperoni (quality matters!)

2 Tbsp butter, softened (for grilling)

Instructions

Spread 1 Tbsp marinara on one side of each bread slice—thin layer only to avoid sogginess.

On one bread slice (sauce side up), layer half the mozzarella evenly, top with pepperoni, then add the remaining cheese.

Close sandwich with second bread slice, sauce side in. Press gently to help it stick.

Butter both outer sides of the sandwich evenly.

Heat skillet over medium-low heat. Grill one side for 4–5 minutes until golden and crisp.

Flip carefully, grill the other side another 4–5 minutes until bread is golden and cheese melted through.

Remove from pan, rest 1–2 minutes, then slice diagonally before serving.
