Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 large apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala recommended)
- 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Optional: pinch of nutmeg or sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Slice Apples: Using a sharp knife or mandoline, thinly slice the apples about ⅛-inch thick. Be sure to remove the seeds from each slice for the best texture.
- Toss with Flavor: In a bowl, gently toss the apple slices with pure maple syrup and ground cinnamon until evenly coated. You can add a pinch of nutmeg or sea salt if desired for extra flavor.
- Arrange Slices: Place the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Make sure they do not overlap to allow even baking and crisping.
- Bake: Bake the apple slices in the preheated oven for 1½ to 2 hours, flipping them halfway through the baking time to ensure both sides become dry and crisp.
- Cool for Crispiness: Once baking is complete, turn off the oven and leave the apple chips inside to cool completely. This step helps to make them extra crispy.
Notes
- For crispier chips, slice the apples as thinly as possible.
- Apple chips will continue to crisp up as they cool outside the oven.
- Store baked apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- If chips become soft, reheat in the oven at 225°F for 10 minutes to re-crisp them.
