Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Wet Ingredients and Add-ins
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1–2 jalapeños, finely diced
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) so it reaches the perfect temperature while you prepare the dough.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until evenly combined.
- Cut in the butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with small pea-sized pieces.
- Incorporate cheddar and jalapeños: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and finely diced jalapeños, distributing them evenly throughout the flour mixture.
- Add milk and combine: Pour in the milk and gently mix just until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing to keep the biscuits light and fluffy.
- Shape and place biscuits: Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake: Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
- Serve warm: Remove from the oven and serve the biscuits warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Remove seeds from jalapeños to reduce the heat if desired.
- For extra flavor and a shiny finish, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter immediately after baking.
