Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 cup honey
- 1–2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add honey and red pepper flakes to a small saucepan to prepare the infusion.
- Warm the Mixture: Heat the mixture over low heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning and to allow the flavors to meld. Avoid boiling to preserve honey’s natural properties.
- Steep: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture steep for 10–15 minutes, giving the red pepper flakes time to infuse their heat into the honey.
- Add Vinegar (Optional): Stir in 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar if you prefer a slight tang to balance the sweetness.
- Strain (Optional): Strain the honey through a fine mesh to remove red pepper flakes for a smooth texture, or leave the flakes in for extra heat and visual appeal.
- Store: Pour the hot honey into a clean jar and store at room temperature. It will keep well for up to 3 months when sealed.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the spice level according to your preference.
- Store hot honey in a sealed jar at room temperature for up to 3 months to maintain freshness and flavor.
