Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 4–6 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Brown the Meat and Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey along with the chopped onion until the meat is fully browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish from being greasy.
- Add the Sauce Ingredients: Stir in the ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors evenly.
- Simmer the Mixture: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. This allows the sauce to thicken and the flavors to meld together beautifully.
- Serve: Spoon the warm, saucy beef mixture generously onto the hamburger buns. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Add finely diced bell peppers or carrots for extra nutrition and a bit of crunch.
- Double the sauce quantity and freeze leftovers for easy meal prep on busy days.
- Try serving on slider buns or brioche rolls for a different flavor and texture experience.
