Instructions
- Pop the popcorn: Use an air popper or stovetop method to pop ½ cup of popcorn kernels according to package directions until fully popped with minimal un-popped kernels.
- Transfer to bowl: Immediately transfer the hot, freshly popped popcorn to a large mixing bowl to prepare for seasoning.
- Drizzle melted butter: Evenly drizzle 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter over the popcorn. Toss gently but thoroughly to coat all the popcorn pieces in butter.
- Add garlic and seasoning: Sprinkle ½ teaspoon garlic powder (or minced garlic if using) along with ¼ teaspoon salt and optional ¼ teaspoon black pepper over the buttered popcorn. Toss again to distribute the flavors evenly.
- Incorporate Parmesan cheese: Add ⅓ cup of finely grated Parmesan cheese and toss the popcorn once more until the cheese is well mixed and sticks to the popcorn glassily.
- Taste and adjust: Sample the popcorn and adjust salt or garlic seasoning as desired for optimal flavor balance.
