Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 medium apple, grated
- ¼ cup maple syrup or honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Optional Ingredients
- ¼ cup raisins or chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to distribute the spices evenly.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Add the unsweetened applesauce, grated apple, maple syrup (or honey), and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly combined to form a sticky dough.
- Incorporate Extras: If using, fold in the raisins or chopped walnuts gently to evenly distribute them throughout the dough.
- Form Cookies: Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly. Flatten each scoop slightly with the back of the spoon or your fingers for even baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the cookies are set and lightly golden on the edges.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or store for later.
Notes
- Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze them for up to 3 months for longer storage.
