Ingredients
Chicken Wings
- 2 lb chicken wings, split and tips removed
- 1 tbsp baking powder (for crispiness)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Garlic Parmesan Sauce
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top to ensure even cooking and crisping of the wings.
- Dry the wings: Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. This step is essential to achieve a crispy skin.
- Season wings: Toss the wings thoroughly with baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to coat them evenly, which will help develop crispiness and flavor.
- Arrange wings: Place the wings in a single layer on the wire rack on the baking sheet, avoiding overcrowding to promote even air circulation for crispiness.
- Bake wings: Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they become golden brown and crispy.
- Make garlic Parmesan sauce: While the wings bake, melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic. Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped fresh parsley, and optional red pepper flakes.
- Toss wings in sauce: Once the wings are hot and cooked, toss them thoroughly with the garlic Parmesan sauce, ensuring each wing is evenly coated with the flavorful mixture.
- Serve immediately: Serve the wings hot as a delicious appetizer. Optionally, accompany with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Notes
- Use baking powder (not baking soda) to help create a crispy skin on the wings.
- For extra crispiness, broil the wings for 2–3 minutes at the end of baking.
- Alternatively, cook the wings in an air fryer at 400°F for 18–22 minutes for a quicker method.
- Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for added flavor.
