Ingredients
Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry
Filling
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup pumpkin puree
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Egg Wash
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking the danishes evenly.
- Prepare Filling: In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, pumpkin puree, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and well combined to create the flavorful pumpkin cream cheese filling.
- Cut Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into six equal squares, preparing them for the filling and folding.
- Add Filling and Fold: Spoon a generous amount of the pumpkin cream cheese filling into the center of each puff pastry square. Then, fold the corners of each square inward toward the center, pinching them lightly to seal the filling inside.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the surface and edges of each filled danish with the beaten egg wash to create a beautiful golden-brown finish when baked.
- Bake Danishes: Place the prepared danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until they are puffed up and golden brown.
Notes
- For extra sweetness and shine, drizzle a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the cooled danishes.
- These danishes can also be made using crescent dough as an alternative to puff pastry.
