Ingredients
Shrimp and Seasoning
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Tortillas
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
Optional Toppings
- Shredded cabbage
- Pico de gallo
- Avocado slices
- Cilantro leaves
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and place them in a mixing bowl to remove excess moisture, ensuring better seasoning adhesion and a cleaner cook.
- Season the Shrimp: Toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated, infusing each piece with bold flavors.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to warm up; this will create a perfect sear on the shrimp when cooked.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the hot skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink, opaque, and are cooked through, taking care not to overcook.
- Warm the Tortillas: Heat the tortillas either in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 20-30 seconds per side or briefly in the microwave until warm and pliable.
- Assemble the Tacos: Place cooked shrimp inside the warmed tortillas and add optional toppings like shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, avocado, and cilantro as desired.
- Serve: Serve the tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top, enhancing the fresh, zesty flavor.
