Dipped Heart Brownies are rich and fudgy chocolate brownies that are cut into charming heart shapes and partially dipped in smooth melted chocolate. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any special occasion, these brownies combine a decadent chocolate base with a decorative, glossy chocolate finish and optional toppings for an elegant homemade treat.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 9–12 heart brownies

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

Chocolate Dip & Toppings

  • 1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (for dipping)
  • Optional toppings: sprinkles, crushed nuts, or sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, stirring until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract thoroughly until the batter is uniform and slightly thickened.
  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually stir these dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a smooth, consistent batter forms.
  5. Pour and Bake: Evenly spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool Completely: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan to set and firm up for easy cutting.
  7. Cut into Hearts: Once cooled, remove the brownies from the pan and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut them into individual heart shapes carefully.
  8. Melt Chocolate for Dipping: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is smooth and glossy.
  9. Dip Brownie Hearts: Dip half of each heart-shaped brownie into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating on one side.
  10. Add Toppings and Set: Place the dipped brownies onto parchment paper and sprinkle optional toppings such as sprinkles, crushed nuts, or sea salt over the chocolate while it is still wet.
  11. Allow Chocolate to Harden: Let the chocolate coating harden completely before serving to achieve a firm and elegant finish.

Notes

  • Ensure brownies are completely cool before cutting to maintain clean, defined heart shapes.
  • Use leftover brownie scraps creatively for cake pops or layered dessert recipes.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.
