Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
Fresh strawberries, diced (optional)
20–24 wonton wrappers
Water (for sealing the edges)
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Whipped cream (for serving)
Extra strawberry jam or sauce (for serving)
Fresh strawberries, sliced (for serving)
Instructions
Make the filling: In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
Prepare the filling: Add a small dollop of strawberry jam to each portion of the filling, or mix in diced strawberries for added flavor and texture.
Fill the wrappers: Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling into the center of each wrapper.
Seal the wrappers: Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold over to create a triangle or envelope shape, and press to seal. Remove any air bubbles.
Heat the oil: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the wontons: Fry the wontons in batches, 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
Drain the wontons: Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve: Serve the wontons warm with whipped cream, extra strawberry jam or sauce, and fresh strawberry slices on the side.
Notes
Be careful not to overfill the wontons to prevent bursting during frying.
Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less powdered sugar to the filling.
These can be made ahead of time, frozen, and fried just before serving.
