A lighter twist on the classic peppermint bark — dark chocolate layered with coconut oil and crushed candy canes for festive flavor without excess sugar.

  • Total Time: 35 min
  • Yield: 10 pieces

Ingredients

Dark Chocolate Layer:

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (70%+)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract

Topping:

  • 2 crushed mini candy canes

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate + coconut oil: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Stir in the peppermint extract.
  2. Pour onto parchment paper: Spread the melted chocolate mixture thinly on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes: Evenly sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the chocolate layer.
  4. Chill 30 minutes, then break into pieces: Place the bark in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until set. Once firm, break the bark into pieces.

Notes

  • Add a drizzle of white chocolate for contrast.
