Ingredients
For the Croissant French Toast
- 4 large croissants, halved
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk or cream
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Butter, for cooking
Instructions
- Prepare the custard mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until fully combined and smooth.
- Soak the croissants: Dip each croissant half into the custard mixture, ensuring they are well coated but not soggy.
- Heat the skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter, making sure the pan is evenly coated.
- Cook the croissants: Place the custard-soaked croissant halves cut-side down in the hot skillet. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Flip and finish cooking: Carefully flip the croissants and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes on the other side just to warm through.
- Serve: Remove from skillet and serve warm. Optionally, garnish with powdered sugar, syrup, or fresh berries for added flavor.
Notes
- Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries to enhance the flavor.
- Slightly stale croissants work best as they absorb the custard mixture without falling apart.
- Use cream instead of milk for a richer custard.
