Ingredients
Beef and Seasoning
- 1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into chunks
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Cooking Base
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon flour (optional, for thickening)
Garnish
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season beef: Season the beef stew meat chunks generously with salt and black pepper to enhance their flavor before cooking.
- Brown beef: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, then brown the beef chunks on all sides until nicely seared. Remove the beef and set aside.
- Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and sauté until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add flour (optional): Stir in the flour if using, and cook for 1 minute to eliminate the raw taste and help thicken the sauce.
- Simmer broth and sauce base: Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer gently for 5 minutes to develop flavor.
- Cook beef until tender: Return the browned beef chunks to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
- Finish sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and shredded Swiss cheese until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy and smooth.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh parsley over the dish and serve warm over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for a hearty meal.
Notes
- For extra tenderness, simmer the beef longer on low heat until desired softness is achieved.
- Serve this creamy Swiss beef over rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta for a complete meal.
- To keep the dish gluten-free, omit the flour or substitute with cornstarch for thickening.
