Ingredients
For the Cookies:
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup milk
For the Streusel:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready when your dough is prepared.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, which will help create a tender cookie texture.
- Add Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract thoroughly to combine all the wet ingredients uniformly.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients and Milk: Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and milk to form a smooth cookie dough.
- Scoop Dough onto Baking Sheet: Use a spoon or cookie scoop to place dollops of dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Prepare and Sprinkle Streusel: In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and melted butter to form the streusel topping, then sprinkle it generously over each cookie dough scoop.
- Bake Cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are set and lightly golden.
- Cool Before Serving: Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them set and enhances their texture.
Notes
- Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk for extra sweetness and a glossy finish.
- Best enjoyed fresh with a cup of coffee or tea to complement the streusel flavors.
