Ingredients
2 large apples (preferably Fuji or Honeycrisp)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the Apples: Wash and core the apples, then slice them very thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works great for even slices!
Coat the Apples: In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, ensuring they’re well-coated. This helps prevent browning during baking.
Season the Apples: In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon, sugar, and salt. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the apple slices, tossing gently to ensure the seasoning is well distributed.
Arrange on Baking Sheet: Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they don’t overlap.
Bake the Chips: Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the apple slices halfway through. Keep an eye on them—they should become crisp and slightly golden as they bake.
Cool and Serve: Once done, remove from the oven and let the chips cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes. They’ll crisp up even more as they cool.
Store: Store the apple chips in an airtight container for up to a week (if they last that long!).
Notes
Apple Varieties: Fuji and Honeycrisp apples are great for this recipe due to their sweetness and crunch, but you can use any apple variety you prefer.
Healthier Sweeteners: Use coconut sugar for a healthier alternative to regular sugar if you prefer a more natural sweetener.
Crunchiness: The thinner the apple slices, the crispier the chips will be. A mandoline slicer ensures consistency and even crisping.
