Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 3 cups broccoli florets (steamed lightly)
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 can (10 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Topping
- 1/2 cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, lightly steamed broccoli florets, cooked rice, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to evenly incorporate all ingredients.
- Add Cheese: Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the mixture to distribute it throughout the casserole filling.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or cooking spray, then transfer the chicken and broccoli mixture evenly into the dish.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the mixture. If desired, add the crushed crackers or breadcrumbs for a crunchy topping.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is golden and melted.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool slightly before serving to allow it to set and make it easier to dish out.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken soup if you prefer a different flavor.
- Using rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut for convenience and saves time on cooking the chicken yourself.
- Optionally add crushed crackers or breadcrumbs on top for a crunchy texture.
- Make sure broccoli is steamed lightly to retain texture without becoming mushy.
