Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
For the Lasagne Stack
- 8 lasagna sheets or flat no-boil pasta sheets (or tortillas as substitute)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
- ¼ cup grated parmesan
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Sauce: Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant. Add the ground beef or turkey, cooking thoroughly while breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Add Marinara and Simmer: Pour in the marinara sauce and stir to combine. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer gently for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors together.
- Layer the Lasagne Stack: Using the same skillet, begin layering the ingredients by spreading a spoonful of the meat sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of pasta sheets, then dollop evenly with ricotta cheese, followed by a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella. Repeat these layers until ingredients are used, ensuring the final layer is topped with additional mozzarella and the grated parmesan cheese.
- Cook on Low Heat: Cover the skillet with a lid and let the lasagne stack cook gently on low heat for 10 to 12 minutes. This allows the pasta to cook through and the cheese to melt beautifully.
- Serve: Once cooked, slice the stacked lasagne directly from the skillet and serve warm, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For an even faster version, substitute lasagna sheets with tortillas.
- Using store-bought béchamel sauce can add extra creaminess and depth to the layers.
- Ensure the heat is kept low during cooking to prevent burning and allow even melting.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
