Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup fresh orange juice
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 1 tbsp orange zest
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cardamom until fully combined and aerated.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly then add the milk, fresh orange juice, melted butter, and orange zest. Stir until well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry: Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the dry ingredients. Gently fold and stir until just incorporated, being careful not to overmix to keep the bread tender.
- Prepare for Baking: Grease a standard loaf pan and pour the batter evenly into the pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake the Bread: Place the loaf pan in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool Before Slicing: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing to ensure it holds together well.
Notes
- For an elegant touch, sprinkle powdered sugar on top once cooled.
- Store the bread wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
- You can substitute orange juice with fresh lemon juice for a citrus twist.
