Ingredients
Meat and Protein
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
Seasoning and Sauces
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
- 1 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheeses
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (optional topping)
Carbohydrates
- 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta or rice
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the casserole.
- Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned all over. Drain off any excess grease to keep the casserole from being too oily.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef, shredded chicken, ranch seasoning packet, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, cooked pasta or rice, salt, and pepper. Mix these ingredients thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of flavors.
- Add Cheese: Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese into the mixture for a creamy texture and rich flavor throughout the casserole.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Grease a baking dish lightly to prevent sticking. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Add Mozzarella Topping: If using, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the casserole for a golden, cheesy crust.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until it is hot throughout and bubbly around the edges.
- Rest before Serving: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. This helps the flavors meld and makes it easier to serve.
Notes
- Add cooked bacon for extra flavor and a smoky undertone.
- Substitute ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter, lower-fat option.
- You can use either cooked pasta or rice depending on your preference.
- For a spicier kick, mix in some chopped jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
