Ingredients
Steak and Seasoning
- 1½ lbs skirt steak
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp ground cumin (optional)
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Finishing
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice or lemon juice
- Fresh parsley or cilantro, optional garnish
Instructions
- Dry the Steak: Pat the skirt steak dry thoroughly using paper towels to ensure a good sear and even seasoning adherence.
- Oil and Season: Rub both sides of the steak evenly with olive oil, then season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes to get it ready for cooking.
- Cook the Steak: Place the steak in the air fryer basket. If needed, cut the steak to fit the basket. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping the steak halfway through to achieve a medium-rare to medium doneness.
- Rest the Steak: Remove the steak from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute for optimal tenderness.
- Slice and Serve: Slice the steak thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness. Drizzle with fresh lime or lemon juice and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired before serving.
Notes
- Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the steak and the air fryer model used.
- For the best tenderness, always slice the steak against the grain.
- Marinate the steak up to 8 hours beforehand to enhance flavor further.
- Internal temperature guidelines: Rare at 125°F, Medium-rare at 130–135°F, Medium at 140–145°F.
