These Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are quick, easy, and come out perfectly golden every time. With a crispy crust and melted cheese filling, this recipe is a game-changer for anyone craving a classic grilled cheese. No stove needed—just a few minutes in the air fryer for a delicious, effortless meal.

  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: 2 sandwiches

Ingredients

4 pieces sandwich bread

4 slices cheese (e.g., 2 cheddar and 2 Havarti)

3 tablespoons butter (or mayonnaise)

Instructions

Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.

Lay one piece of bread, spread side down, in the air fryer basket.

Top with 2 slices of cheese and place another piece of bread, spread side up, on top of the cheese.

Cook the sandwich at 370°F for 4 minutes, then flip the sandwich and cook for another 4 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of toast.

Serve warm and enjoy your perfectly crispy, melty grilled cheese!

Notes

Preheating: I didn’t preheat the air fryer for this recipe, but if your model requires it, preheat for 2-3 minutes before cooking.

Basket Size: Be sure not to overcrowd the basket. Depending on the size of your bread, you can fit two sandwiches in the air fryer basket.

Toothpick Tip: If your bread is thin, insert a toothpick in the center to prevent the bread from shifting during cooking. The hot air circulation could cause the bread to move if it’s too light.
