Ingredients
For biscuit dough version (quick):
1 can Southern‐style buttermilk biscuits (e.g., Pillsbury Grands)
For homemade dough version:
½ cup whole milk, warmed (~100–110 °F)
4 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 large egg
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all‑purpose flour
1½ Tbsp baking powder (or substitute equal amount yeast; see note)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg or clove (optional)
For coating:
4 Tbsp butter, melted
½ cup granulated sugar
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Choose your dough: for fastest prep, use canned biscuit dough—cut each biscuit into four pieces. For homemade, whisk dry ingredients then mix wet ingredients and combine, knead lightly into dough, cut into bite‑size balls.
Preheat your air fryer to 350 °F. Lightly grease or brush the basket with oil.
Place dough pieces or balls in a single layer, allowing space between each.
Air‑fry for 4–8 minutes at 350 °F, flipping or shaking halfway through, until golden and cooked through. Cooking time varies slightly—shorter for canned dough (~4–5 min), longer for homemade (~6–8 min).
Meanwhile, mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Keep melted butter ready.
When donut bites are done, dip each briefly in melted butter, then toss in cinnamon‑sugar until fully coated.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving to maintain crispness. Best eaten warm.
